How to Meditate

There is no reason why you can't be sitting in a comfortable chair or lying down if that's what you want to do and you can simply rest your hands on your lap or by your side.

At times you may fall asleep but this is what your mind and body need on those occasions and your unconscious mind may be taking in more than you realise.

It is far more important for people to be comfortable and able to stay in a position without the need to move too much or fidget, which will break your focus. Pins and needles, backache, cramp and tight muscles will stop the meditation in an instant.

Books, teachers and schools of meditation all have their own ideas of how to meditate and some insist on certain postures.  Rather than conforming to these we would rather you found the way that suits you and a posture that you can stay with during your meditation.

Anything that can calm your mind and help bring some clarity of thinking is not likely to be governed by a set of rules.  What feels right for one person might not feel right for another.

No one method or posture is necessarily better than another

The key is to find a method and way that suits you
